Tsunami Disasters are no joke. They are the cause of thousands of deaths across the globe. That is a reason why this site exists, to show you the true strength of a tsunami and the dangers.
What is a tsunami?
A tsunami is an ocean wave produced by a sub-marine earthquake, landslide, or volcanic eruption.
It is when a fault accurse creates a speed reduction with overlapping primary
waves. A tsunami poses danger to all land near the area of the disaster.
Just like earth quakes, not all tsunamis are large enough to cause harm, or even
be felt.

Are Tsunami's
Dangerous?
Tsunami's are
extremely dangerous and have caused thousands of deaths every year. Just
in 2004 the Indonesian Tsunami killed over 500,000 people. That is more
people than 4 times the population of Pasadena California. Facts
show that tsunamis are much more devastating than earthquakes. Waves from
tsunamis can reach over 300 feet tall, leaving everything in it's path crushed.
For these reasons, State laws in the
United States require evacuation routes to be clearly displayed in any area next
to an ocean. Most of them look something similar to this:

If you are every stuck in an area that has one of the signs,
examine it closely. If you are ever hit by a tsunami, follow the arrows of the signs. They will lead you to higher
ground.
